In 2017, 16 million family and friends provided an estimated 18.4 billion hours of unpaid care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the United States – a contribution to the nation valued at more than $232 billion.
These caregivers are strong and compassionate, often putting their own emotional well-being, physical health and mental health on the backburner. For them, every day can feel like the longest day.
That’s why each year, the Alzheimer’s Association encourages advocates to participate in an activity they or an affected loved one enjoys, from sunrise to sundown, in the hopes of putting an end Alzheimer’s disease.
We are once again honored to recognize these caregivers’ passion and endurance. At The Kenwood, we’ll be rocking around the clock from sunrise to sunset in an effort to increase awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. We are also hosting a bake sale and community lunch (donations accepted), where proceeds will be applied to our community-wide fundraising efforts for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Sawyer Point on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
