Excerpt: Fox19 Cincinnati highlights a resident’s story of rediscovery and the intentional culture at The Kenwood.

When Marilyn Jacobs moved to The Kenwood by Senior Star, she was drawn to the beautiful spaces and lush grounds—but what truly made it feel like home was the sense of community.

In a recent feature on Fox19 Cincinnati with Abby Urban, Marilyn opens up about rediscovering herself after the loss of her spouse. “I was welcomed with open arms,” she says. “In about five seconds, I had two new friends that I still have today.”

Marilyn credits her renewed sense of purpose to engaging experiences like pool games, sewing club, book discussions, jazz performances, and more.

“It’s all about staying connected,” she adds.

The story also features Executive Director Scott Gibson, who discusses how The Kenwood’s culture of trust and connection is no accident. Through intentional gestures and daily “drops” of appreciation, the team cultivates a community where associates and residents truly feel like family.
