Partnering and outreach within local communities that our senior living properties are a part of is vital and very near to the hearts of our Senior Star teams. Our Wexford Place community embraced our company promise to “do for each other with love” this week by expanding dementia training to the Kansas City Regional Police Academy and the 174th class of recruits.
Wexford Place Executive Director, Marsha Rufener shared “Giving understanding and empathy is really the “why” behind offering this program”
Direct from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of American a revolutionary way, through the use of modern virtual reality headsets, one can gain a better understanding of the effects of dementia and how to care for or work with those living with it. This program was initially created for family members of those who struggle with dementia. Now the goal is to continue to expand the program out into the local community to further educate and create understanding.
If you have an organization you think could benefit from it, email Marsha Rufener at mrufener@seniorstar.com.
