Abby Urban on Fox19 Cincinnati highlights The Kenwood through the heartfelt perspectives of a longtime resident who calls it home, and a team member whose family does too.
In a recent segment, viewers met Howard Leroy, an Independent Living resident at The Kenwood by Senior Star who’s been part of the community for six years. Originally from Southern California, Howard never saw himself in what he called “apartment-style living”—but today, he considers it ideal.
He and his late wife moved in together and quickly discovered what makes The Kenwood special: it’s a worry-free lifestyle, full of connection, freedom, and support.
“If someone’s hesitant,” Howard says, “the first thing that comes to mind is that people wait too long. Make the change when you can still enjoy and participate.”
The segment also features Lauren Abel, a Kenwood associate whose father is also a Kenwood resident. Her dual perspective adds depth to the story: “We’d be happy to help you and welcome you into our family.”
Their stories show what The Kenwood does best, creating a place where people feel known, supported, and genuinely at home.
