What’s Cooking at The Kenwood this Thanksgiving?

By: Tom Rotz, executive director of The Kenwood by Senior Star

Here at The Kenwood, we look forward to celebrating the holidays with family and friends. Several generations have the opportunity to gather around a table to share stories and traditions of holidays past.

In addition to serving residents, we always invite residents’ friends and family members to enjoy our Thanksgiving celebration. Due to the tremendous growth we’ve experienced in 2013, this year our traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be served twice to accommodate our growing family! The double seating is sure to please our residents, who recently shared with us their favorite Thanksgiving foods and traditions.

Our Culinary Institute of America trained chef, Robert Giesman, recently invited us into his kitchen for a sneak peek of what’s cooking at The Kenwood this Thanksgiving. Here’s what our guests can expect at the table this Thursday, Nov. 28:

  • A tossed salad with assorted toppings and dressing
  • Caesar salad
  • Asian style vegetable slaw
  • Smoked seafood display
  • Cheese board with assorted crackers
  • Fresh fruit display
  • Carved turkey with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce
  • Carved prime rib of beef with Jus Lie, horseradish and horseradish sauce
  • Roasted pork loin
  • Seafood du jour
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Asparagus with hollandaise sauce
  • Sautéed vegetable medley
  • Assorted desserts

Chef Giesman and the entire culinary team have really outdone themselves this year! And whether you’re joining us or not, we want to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving!
