Mobile VDT visits First Responders on International Second Wind Dreams Day

In recognition of International Second Wind Dreams Day, celebrated annually on Sept. 14, The Kenwood by Senior Star took its Mobile Virtual Dementia Tour® (VDT) on the road, visiting Greater Cincinnati emergency service providers to bring awareness to the symptoms of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Powered by international nonprofit Second Wind Dreams®, The Kenwood’s Mobile VDT is a scientifically-proven educational tool that simulates the cognitive and physical symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The Kenwood provides the mobile training across the Greater Cincinnati area at no cost to participating organizations.

The Kenwood spent the day with five Cincinnati police and fire units, including the Madisonville Fire Department, Oakley Fire Department, Hyde Park Fire Department, Madeira Fire Department and District 2 Police Department. The local departments learned how the Mobile VDT could help their teams better empathize with those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia – allowing first responders to react more efficiently and effectively when handling emergencies involving those with memory impairments. Lunch was also delivered to thank the first responders for their dedicated service to the community.
