Mobile VDT Visits the Reds Hall of Fame

Mobile Virtual Dementia TourThe Kenwood by Senior Star and the Mobile Virtual Dementia Tour® (Mobile VDT®), powered by international nonprofit Second Wind Dreams®, made an appearance at the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum.

The VDT is a scientifically proven tool that simulates common Alzheimer’s cognitive and physical impairments. As a result, this helps improve individuals’ understanding of dementia behaviors. The Kenwood is the only senior living community in Cincinnati that offers the Virtual Dementia Tour. In addition, they’re also the third senior living community in the United States to offer the mobile version of the tour.

During the year, Reds Hall of Fame and Museum volunteers visit local senior living communities. They share baseball memories with residents through its program, Our Legends Remembered. They felt the Mobile VDT would give their volunteers a better perspective on engaging with fans with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

“Our Legends Remembered program connects seniors with the Reds’ grand history and rekindles many of their cherished ballpark memories. We were pleased to be able to offer our volunteers and staff, those who interact with fans, the opportunity to take part in this Virtual Dementia Training so that we can reach this important, specific, growing segment of our population,” said Rick Walls, executive director of the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum.
