Individually Inspired: Ida Zinam

Ida Zinam Oil Painting

The Kenwood by Senior Star resident Ida Zinam shares some of her oil painting prowess.

May is recognized as Older Americans Month. Each week, The Kenwood by Senior Star will highlight how residents are blazing a trail and capturing the essence of making a positive impact and inspiring others.

Ida Zinam, a four-year resident, is no novice to staying active at The Kenwood by Senior Star. From oil painting to water aerobics to piano, chess and creative writing classes, Ida enjoys pursuing new pastimes.

Ida’s interest in tackling different activities blazes a trail to reinvention as she continues to discover new passions at The Kenwood. Though she earned her Ph.D. degree many years ago, Ida has never forgotten her love of learning.

A year and a half ago, Ida began participating in the oil painting classes led by Susan Hoffheimer at The Kenwood. She had never tried painting before because she always assumed she couldn’t. Now, Ida’s apartment is filled with her beautiful artwork.

“The teachers are outstanding at The Kenwood and you couldn’t want a better staff,” she said. “Here, you know you’ll be taken care of. There is always someone to help.”
