Join us on The Longest Day to Honor the Alzheimer’s Association

The Longest Day at the Kenwood by Senior StarIt’s that time of year again. Join us on The Longest Day at The Kenwood on Saturday, June 21.

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive, debilitating disease that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. More than 5.4 million Americans are currently living with the disease. There is no cure, no prevention and no way to slow down the disease.

At The Kenwood, we are passionate about taking action in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Locally, as well as throughout the entire Senior Star community network, we have a company-wide initiative aimed at exceptional fundraising for the cause and generating awareness of the Alzheimer’s Association and concern for Alzheimer’s disease.

As you know, Alzheimer’s disease affects people everywhere, including many families at The Kenwood. We are unrelenting in our devotion to helping these families and find a cure to this devastating disease.

Once again, The Kenwood is taking part in the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Longest Day, which is a sunrise-to-sunset team event held on the summer solstice (the longest day of the year) to recognize those struggling with Alzheimer’s and to raise awareness about the disease.

On Saturday, June 21, The Kenwood will join thousands of people across the world to honor the strength, endurance and passion of those facing Alzheimer’s every day by participating in a day of activity.

During the event, The Kenwood will conduct a day-long walk-a-thon, which will begin at 5:30 a.m. Families, residents, employees and members of the community will participate.

In an effort to spread awareness of the disease beyond our immediate community, a balloon release will be held at 1:30 p.m. Five hundred purple balloons, outfitted with compelling messages, will be released and drift to various locations to encourage people to take action against Alzheimer’s.

Let’s see how far we can spread our message and work together to fund research, support programs, and services for those who have Alzheimer’s and caregivers. Join us by emailing Sarah Rieger: srieger@kenwoodbyseniorstar.com.
