Corporate Philanthropy

At Senior Star, we are committed to being a positive impact on the local communities where our residents reside while also making a difference within the entire Aging Services industry. Our teams remain committed to causes that affect seniors and their families around the world.

Every senior deserves a place filled with Exploration, Passion and Meaning. We champion this concept with every corporate philanthropy opportunity. As a nationally recognized leader in the industry, we are proud to be a source of guidance for thousands of families every year.  That’s why we continually research emerging issues as well as trends in senior living, and then put what we learn into action through our corporate philanthropy efforts.

Our Three Pillars of Social Responsibility

Senior Star currently commits our companywide support to these three organizations, but our support doesn’t stop here. We also encourage our associates who are actively engaged with a non-profit organization to bring it to their leadership team’s attention, as we want to help them achieve success in their efforts to give back to the world we live in.

ASHA

The American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA) brings the voice of seniors to Capitol Hill. Salaried Senior Star associates can make an annual contribution to ASHA’s PAC to help influence key legislation that impacts how care and services are delivered in the senior living industry.

Walk to End Alzheimer's ®

When it comes to the Alzheimer’s Association, Senior Star continually maintains a position in the top five fundraising teams in the nation. When we ask our friends and family to make a donation, we are providing hope to millions of families as we continue to pursue our nation’s goal – to prevent and effectively treat Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias by 2025.

United Way

Image

Each year, Senior Star associates have the opportunity to give to the United Way to advance the common good in the areas of education, income, and health in each local community. Each of our communities are also given the opportunity to support their local area community through support of organizations that they or an associate are involved in.

In fact, Senior Star co-founders, Robert & William Thomas have served in leadership roles for the Tulsa Area United Way Board of Directors, LIFE Senior Services Capital/Endowment Campaign and the Tulsa Area United Way Community Campaign.  During their time as leadership, within Tulsa United Way, they were able to successfully reach fundraising of the largest United Way campaign in Tulsa’s history to date.

Our Commitment to Philanthropy

Every Senior Deserves a Place Filled with Exploration, Passion and Meaning.

We champion this concept with every corporate philanthropy opportunity. As a nationally recognized leader in the industry, we are proud to be a source of guidance for thousands of families every year. That’s why we continually research emerging issues as well as trends in senior living and then put what we learn into action through our corporate philanthropy efforts in these areas:

Local Communities

Our founders, identical twins Bob and Bill Thomas, have served in leadership roles as past chairs for the Tulsa Area United Way Board of Directors, LIFE Senior Services Capital/Endowment Campaign and the Tulsa Area United Way Community Campaign — where their leadership contributed to achieving the largest United Way campaign in Tulsa’s history.

Senior Housing

In 2021, William & Robert were inducted into the American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA) Senior Living Hall of Fame for their significant contributions and dedication to senior living housing. ASHA’s Senior Living Hall of Fame recognizes “visionary individuals who have distinguished themselves through uncommon foresight” as well as “groundbreaking innovation” and “an unwavering commitment to community lifestyles that enhance choice, independence, dignity and personalized service.” Along with the Thomas brothers, the 2021 Hall of Fame class induction included the late Carl Campbell and Belmont Village Senior Living CEO Patricia Will.

Alzheimer's Advocacy

Our co-founder and other team members travel and advocate to champion a “World without Alzheimer’s” among legislators and groups instrumental in providing support for this cause. The National Alzheimer’s Association honored the leadership of Bob Thomas in this area by presenting him with the Maureen Reagan Outstanding Advocate Award — an award given to only one recipient annually for Alzheimer’s advocacy.
